Wandering Souls of Sikkim organised it’s inter school festival, NEEV : A Foundation for better future at Government Senior Secondary School, Rateypani, South Sikkim on 4th October 2019.
The festival comprising of plethora of scholastic activities such as quiz,essay writing, elocution,poem recitation and debate was graced by Education Secretary M.T Sherpa as the Chief Guest alongwith Ram Tamang, BDO, Namthang; Sagar Moktan, Deputy Director cum District Head, Education Department, South Sikkim, A.B Gurung, Deputy Secretary, Industries Deptt, officials, Zilla & Gram Panchayats, teachers, students and others.
The festival began with a wonderful prayer song and opening dance performances by the students and welcome speech by Principal Ajay Pokhrel.
About 50 students from Seven different schools of the Namthang-Rateypani area participated in the festival supported by the Rateypani Gram Panchayat and the Rateypani Senior Secondary School.
Various competitions were judged by SMU Assistant Professors Prayash Gupta and Deepa Sharma.
WINNERS:
In junior essay writing competition Pratikcha Gurung of Turung Secondary School stood first, whereas, in the senior essay writing Aadarshana Pradhan of Namthang Senior Secondary School came first. Deeya Gurung of Chuba Secondary School mesmerized everyone with her beautiful poem recitation and thus was chosen the best in this event by the judges.
In elocution competition Suprava Chettri of the host school stood first. Zenith Rai of the Host School was declared the best speaker in the debate competition. In the battle of the brains i.e. quiz the team comprising of Kanchan Kharel and Pukar Sapkota from Turung Secondary School convincingly took home the winner’s trophy.
Teacher Mani Kumar Chettri, a recipient of Commendation Certificate from the Government of Sikkim was also felicitated by the school family during the festival.
Chief Guest in his address expressed his best wishes to the students and congratulated the school for hosting the festival.
Most of the students were participating in such event for the first time and thus their performance was worth appreciating. We hope that they will learn and hone their skills for such more events in the days to come. Wandering Souls of Sikkim has always pledged to give platform to the students of government schools in rural Sikkim and will continue to do so in this regard.
We are grateful towards everyone who supported us in making the Rateypani edition of NEEV a success.
