WSOS UPGRADED LIBRARY INAUGURATED AND PAKYONG DIVISION LEVEL INTER SCHOOL QUIZ & DECLAMATION COMPETITION HELD AT CHUJACHEN SCHOOL

Pakyong ADC (Dev.) Ms. Radha Pradhan inaugurated School Library upgraded by Wandering Souls of Sikkim at Government Senior Secondary School, Chujachen near Rongli in East Sikkim on 15thOctober 2019. 

Wandering Souls of Sikkim had upgraded the library using the books and cash support pooled together from generous contributors both from within & outside the state. As a part of this upgradation more than 2000 books, 3 bookshelves and Carpets for the library floor were added to the library of the school.

Inauguration of the Upgraded Library.

This is the third library upgraded by Wandering Souls of Sikkim as a part of our Library Initiative. 

Pakyong Division Level Quiz & Declamation Competition supported by the office of the ADC (Dev.), Pakyong furthering the cause of Swachh Bharat was organized as a part of the Inauguration Ceremony.   8 Senior Secondary Schools under Pakyong & Rongli Sub Divisions participated in the competitions. Team Comprising of Gaurav Neopaney & Abishek Rai of the host school secured first position in the quiz competition followed by Nisha Gurung & Yangden Bhutia of Rolep Senior Secondary School in the second position and Bishes Subba & Ranjan Sharma of Dikling Sr. Sec. School in the third position.  

Sayoun Rai of Rolep Sr. Sec. School was declared winner of the Declamation Competition followed by Reena Chettri of Chujachen Sr. Sec. School in the second position and Esha Chettri of St. Xaviers’ School, Pakyong in the 3rdPosition. Theme for the declamation competition was Swachh Bharat Mission and its relevance to tackle climate change and ensure sustainable development. 

Quiz Competition was conducted by WSOS quizmasters Homnath Dhungyal and Albart Gurung whereas the declamation was conducted by Sabin Pandey. 

Students of the host school presented wonderful cultural performances. 

WSOS Co-Founder Pranay Khatiwara thanked all those who contributed books and cash for the upgradation of library and also thanked ADC (Dev.), Pakyong for her help and support in organizing the event. 

Chujachen School Vice Principal Shri Pramod Pradhan thanked WSOS for upgrading the library and called upon the teachers and students to take maximum advantage of the library.

Swachh Bharat District Coordinator Shri Sunil Pradhan in his address delved on the importance of segregating waste at source and why is it important to reduce the use of plastics in our day to day activities. He also called upon everyone present in the event to follow 4R i.e. Refuse, Reduce, Reuse and Recycle as far as waste reduction and plastic waste is concerned. He also encouraged everyone to keep their surroundings clean and be the ambassador of Swachh Bharat Mission. He congratulated the participating students and the Wandering Souls of Sikkim and expressed his happiness on being able to attend the event.

Chief Guest Ms. Radha Pradhan, ADC (Dev.), Pakyong congratulated the school for getting their library upgraded and also expressed her happiness to witness the quiz and declamation competition and applauded WSOS for the initiative. She also asked everyone to maintain cleanliness in their surroundings and also called upon everyone to segregate waste at source. 

Tokens specially made of waste plastic by the Young Batel Club of Rongli were given to the guests as souvenirs during the function. 

Zero Waste Protocol was maintained during the event and waste generating items like use & throw glasses, plates, packaged drinking water etc. were completely avoided. 

The event was also attended by BDO, Regoh Shri Bhim Pradhan, Swachh Bharat District Coordinator Shri Sunil Pradhan, Education Deputy Director Shri Dorjee Sherpa, AD Shri Narad Chettri, Rongli PI Shri Bishal Lama, Retired Secretary Shri K P Adhikari, panchayats, teachers, students & others.
