NEEV: A Foundation for Better Future, An Inter School Festival held at Rongli on 28th February 2020.

Wandering Souls of Sikkim organised its inter school festival, NEEV: A Foundation for Better Future at Rongli Community Hall on 28thFebruary 2020. The festival was supported by BAC, Regu & Rhenock as an awareness initiative of Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) and the themes of the competitions were tuned in with the various aspects of SBM such as Menstrual Hygiene, Cleanliness, Climate Change etc. Quiz Competition also had two dedicated rounds on Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. 

The festival saw the participation of more than 100 students from 14 secondary and senior secondary schools of Rhenock & Rongli area in various competitions like quiz, elocution, essay writing, poetry recitation etc in various categories. 

Various competitions were judged by Rhenock College Assistant Professors Ms. Pranamya Rai, Ms. Rachana Sharma, Ms. Saraswati Sharma, Mr. Nirkamal Dahal, Mr. Yogesh Neopaney and Swachh Bharat District Coordinator Mr. Sunil Pradhan. Quizmaster Mr. Chleopus Subba conducted the quiz competition. 

Sumnina Rai of Rongli Secondary School was adjudged winner in the Elocution Competition (Class 9-10) held on the theme: My Dream of Clean India: My Perspectives & Contributions, whereas, Reena Chettri of Chujachen Sr. Sec. School won the Elocution Competition (Class 11-12) on the theme: Menstrual Hygiene: The Stigma and the Way Forward. 

Eden Bhutia of Rongli Sec School secured first position on the poetry recitation competition, in which participants were asked to recite self written poems on cleanliness. 

Prayash Adhikari of Chujachen Sr. Sec. School won the Class 11-12 level Essay Writing Competition on the theme: Climate Change: Ideas to negate the Challenge  whereas, Esneha Rai of Rongli School won the Class 9-10 level Essay Writing competition on the theme: My Favourite Poet.

Team comprising of Pranaya Mishra & Rohan Chettri from Bering Secondary School were adjudged winners of the Quiz Competition after many exciting rounds of quizzing.

Festival also saw the cultural presentations by the students of Rongli School & Rhenock College. 

RDD Special Secretary cum Mission Director, Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin), Shri Anil Raj Rai attended the day long festival as the Chief Guest and congratulated the participants & the organisers for the wonderful event and also called upon everyone to imbibe cleanliness as a habit within oneself. 

Pakyong ADC (Dev.) Smt. Radha Pradhan attended the event as Guest of Honour and called upon the students and teachers to take active part in such competitions and take maximum advantage. 

The event was also attended by Rongli SDM Shri P R Dulal, BDOs of Regu & Rhenock, Rongli Education Deputy Director Shri Dorjee Sherpa, Panchayats, teachers, students & others. 

This festival was organised in line with WSOS objective of laying a foundation for better future by providing a platform to the young minds in rural Sikkim to foster their creative genius. WSOS is specially grateful towards BDO Regu Shri Bhim Pradhan and BDO Rhenock Shri R K Gurung for supporting us in organising the event. 

WSOS shall always try to create more platforms for the young minds in the future as well.
