Wandering Souls of Sikkim, a vibrant webzine and youth forum, stands at the forefront of nurturing the creative spirits of Sikkimese youth. With a mission to provide a platform for young minds to shine, this dynamic organization has rapidly made its mark in the hill state. In a brief span of time, Wandering Souls of Sikkim has orchestrated over 50 scholastic events, breathing new life to 15 rural libraries and mobilizing more than 500 enthusiastic student volunteers. Their efforts have touched the lives of over 10,000 students, igniting a passion for learning and self-expression. by organizing inter-college fests and engaging with local communities, Wandering Souls of Sikkim fosters a nurturing environment for young people to flourish, and aim for global success.
Hari Prasad Khatiwara: A Pillar of the Community
Hari Prasad Khatiwara, fondly known as Sardar Babai, was a cornerstone of the Mamring Tareythang community. Born in December 1933, his life was a testament to unwavering dedication to education, democracy, and social justice. As a fervent participant in Sikkim’s democratic movement of early 1970s Khatiwara played a pivotal role in shaping the region’s educational landscape, founding numerous schools and nurturing a generation of learners. His leadership extended beyond education, as he served the Amba Gram Panchayat in various capacities including being its President for several years. As President of the Amba Mamring MPCS for over a decade he earned the community’s respect for his wisdom and impartial judgement. Hari Prasad Khatiwara’s legacy is one of service, commitment, and an unyielding belief in the power of education to transform lives.
H.P. Khatiwara Heritage School: Where Tradition Meets Innovation
In February 2025, the H.P. Khatiwara Heritage School shall open its doors, heralding a new era of educational excellence. This visionary institution, an initiative of the Wandering Souls of Sikkim, will honour the remarkable legacy of Hari Prasad Khatiwara. At H.P. Khatiwara Heritage School, learning will be an adventure where curiosity is kindled, and each student’s potential is nurtured. With a cutting-edge curriculum that balances academic rigor with creative exploration, the school promises a holistic education that goes beyond the classroom.
