An awareness programme for students on maintenance and welfare of parents and senior citizens was organised by District Administration South Sikkim in collaboration with Wandering Souls of Sikkim at Yangang Sr Sec School on 13th Dec 2021.
The programme comprised of debate, quiz and an interactive session by Pranay Khatiwara, Assistant Professor, Govt College, Rhenock on the theme. The topic of the debate competition was whether rising number of old age homes in Sikkim signify deterioration of values in our society or not, in which students from Yangang Sr Sec School and Lingee Sr Secondary School participated, Yangang School emerged victorious and Ugen Tamang of the same school was adjudged the best speaker.
WSOS CO-founder Pranay Khatiwara and Ajoey Basnett, Assistant Professor, Govt College, Gyalshing were the judges for the debate competition. Chleopus Subba of WSOS was the host of the event and Quizmaster Homnath Dhungel conducted the quiz competition.
Yangang School Principal Shri Pushpa Raj Dhungel thanked the organisers and called upon the students to take home the message delivered during the programme.
