Wandering Souls of Sikkim organized NEEV: A Foundation for Better Future, an inter-school festival on 19th March 2021 at Government Secondary School, Tareythang, East Sikkim. The festival was supported by Bering Tareythang & Amba Gram Panchayat. Around 100 students from 8 schools under Amba & Bering Tareythang GPUs participated in various competitions like Quiz, Debate, Poetry, Spell Check, Creative Writing etc. in various categories.
BDO, Pakyong Shri Nilakantha Bhandari was present during the festival as the Chief Guest and Shri B P Sharma, AD, Education Department as a special guest along with Amba Taza Zilla Panchayat Dr. Subadra Dangal, President, Bering Tareythang GP Shri Yamlall Chettri, Vice Presidents Smt. Amna Basnett & Smt. Indra Kri. Kafley, Members Shri Surya Bdr Thapa & Shri Giridhari Adhikari, Sr. VAA, Amba Shri B S Tamang, school heads, teachers, students and others.
Various competitions were judged by renowned author Yuva Baral “Ananth”, Rhenock College Assistant Professors Pranamya Rai, Nirkamal Dahal, Mandip Tamang, Senior Teacher of Dikling Sr. Sec. School Matrika Sharma and Machong PHC Health Counselor and Air Veteran Yogesh Newpaney.
The event was hosted by Chleopus Limboo of WSOS and Senior level quiz was conducted by quizmaster Homnath Dhungyal of WSOS & junior level quiz was conducted by quizmaster Siddharth Chhetri of WSOS.
Festival saw wonderful dance performances by the students of Tareythang School and a song presentation by Jaideep Chettri of WSOS. Machong PHC health counselor and air veteran Yogesh Newpaney delivered a short presentation on Tuberculosis and ways to eliminate it. Tareythang School HM B N Khatiwada thanked WSOS for choosing the school as a venue for this edition of NEEV.
Addressing the gathering Chief Guest congratulated the Gram Panchayat and Wandering Souls of Sikkim for organizing the festival with an objective of providing a platform for the students studying in the village schools. Winners and runners up of the various competitions were presented memento, certificates and cash prizes as a mark of appreciation of their merit and all the participating students were presented certificate of participation.
